It’s getting to be that time of year when families and friends gather around the table and give thanks for the food. But the real thanks truly starts before you sit at the table.
All food is living and contains energy – be it a plant or animal. The energy from this living food is then transferred to us when we eat it. (For the sake of this blog, I am referring to actual fresh food. Not boxed, prepared or processed foods which have very little, if any, positive energies.)
So from the time you walk into the grocery store or farmer’s market, the process of giving thanks can start. As you walk through the door, you can silently thank all who have made it possible for the food to be there. Or, if you are so inclined, you could break it down and thank the soil, the seeds, the grower, the transporter, the stockers, and so on.
Would you like to be tossed around?
What goes on during the preparation of the food is a big part of how those energies of the food go into our body.
Do you think that food prepared in a fast food establishment, probably by someone who does not like their job, throws the ingredients together, stuffs it in a bag and pushes it on a counter is going to have the same effect on your body that food prepared with love and gratitude does?
Between the nutritionless food and the way it is prepared, no wonder so many people have indigestion, heartburn, acid reflux, ulcers, IBS and so many other ailments.
Begin your meal prep by changing your mindset. Instead of thinking of cooking as a prison sentence, think of it as a meditation experience. It can be a time to de-stress and relax. You can enhance it by making a drink of your favorite beverage and sipping it as you work!
Play your favorite music, dance and just enjoy the whole experience.
It’s also an excellent time to get others in your household involved with the preparation. Give each person a specific job to do, and it will make yours easier.
And who said that meals have to be complicated?! Simple is good. Trying to cook something that is beyond your expertise will frustrate you, and those vibes will be carried over into the food.
Same goes if you are arguing while preparing your food. Those negative energies are going into the food!
Even if you are reheating food, you can still do so mindfully.
When you are ready to eat, make sure to take the time sit down to eat. You can even put flowers on the table bring in another element of living energy.
Try to eliminate distractions, like the TV. And keep conversations positive so your food will digest better.
Show your appreciation of the food and the work that went into preparing it by plating your food on non-disposable plates.
Then before you eat, give thanks again.
Remember, this food gave up their life energies to give to you.
Be appreciative of that.
